Inbound Marketing Services: Meet Our Graphic Designer Stephanie!

Tell me about your career path, what led you to your business focus?

I originally majored in Painting but changed it to Design when I was at the end of my Freshman year. I felt that I didn't exactly want to be a starving artist but I loved painting so I wanted to do it on the side. I studied graphic design in college and worked at a print shop as an intern my last few years there which really helped me learn about print based graphics. Graphic Design is a way for me to show my creative side and skills.

How is working at OverGo Studio different than your past jobs?

I had never worked with web-based graphics in the past. Website graphics are very different from print based because you are trying to grab someone's attention to click on something, bringing them to an offer or to make the viewer explore the website more. It made me think about graphic use in a new way. Everyone is using the internet more and more to advertise rather than print based graphics so it was exciting to start something so new and different.

When it comes to your daily work, what are your top priorities? What are your biggest challenges?

My top priorities on a daily basis are keeping text aligned and making sense with the graphics. Spacing is a major thing as well with text and images. The colors are a big thing too because you need to make sure the colors go together with the theme of the website and not stray too far away from that. You want the graphics to pop but not be out of place on the screen. Research and brainstorming is also a top priority before I begin any CTA or info-graphic.

What are the duties performed during a typical day? Do you have a set routine? How much variety is there on a day-to-day basis?

During a typical day I will work on projects that were assigned to me, CTA's and Headers, Info-graphics, hero images. I work on the ones that are given priority over the others first, send the files over and wait for an OK or make a few text corrections as far as wording.  There isn't too much of a variety, its always graphics! So dealing with color, type, and design everyday.

What are the main or most important personal characteristics for success in the field?

Success in graphic design field you need first a creative side. You definitely have to learn the programs to create the graphics in, that is a huge thing! And you need to have a hard shell because customers may not like what you do all the time, and sometimes don't even know what they want or how to say what they want. That is definitely more when it comes to print based graphics.

What do you do when you’re not living, breathing graphic design?

I work another job as a server/bartender. I also love to paint, do crafts, hanging with my boyfriend and friends. I live at the beach so getting there whenever I can is a must!
