Yext VS CitySearch: A Fight Between Business Search Sites

CitySearch

Citysearch is a free online website that provides information about businesses having to do with dining, entertainment, retail, travel, and professional services in various cities throughout the US. A company’s Citysearch listing includes contact information, maps, driving directions, editorial, and user reviews.

As a company, you can add business details, make changes to existing business details, and provide supportive information for customers. Citysearch tracks the people who visit your Citysearch business page and provides you with statistics about your visitors. It also allows you to publish information about special offers for your customers and add links to your website, Facebook page, and Twitter account.

The reviews are probably the most important part of citysearch. Past customers can come and leave reviews on your account listing which will reflect kindly on your business and also will show up when someone searches for you on Google.

They have a video that explains it pretty well on their about us page:

Yext

Yext allows you to create one listing with all the information you want regarding your business. Unlike CitySearch, Yext is not free but you get a lot more perks from it. Yext puts your listing on over 35+ sites like CitySearch, Yelp, Yahoo, etc. This makes it a ton easier to manage your listings. You aren't constantly logging in and out to a couple sites trying to make sure your reviews are good and your information is up to date.

Yext has a couple packages but the PowerListings Complete Package gets your business PowerListings on 35+ sites in the "Yext Network." With a combined reach of over 150 million searchers a month. This package gets you premium listings with photos, special offers and descriptions and full control on each site. The best part about this one is that you can track and report on as well as be allerted to what customers are saying about you with review monitoring.

Conclusion:

These two sites are fairly hard to compare. One is pretty large scaled and the other is small scaled. Whichever one you choose depends on what your business might need!

business search sitesI think one of the best parts of Googling a business these days is the ability to see the reviews other customers are giving that business, especially for the service industry. Websites like CitySearch and Yext are helping businesses make it easier to manage these listings. One of our client's just asked for information on a few of these online city guide sites so I thought it would be beneficial to compare two types of platforms that your business could be a part of.
