The company we were analyzing was one that sells a consumer product but they only sell it to distributors. We were blogging and getting found for things that consumers would be interested in but not necessarily the distributors. So, we have to go back and start at ground zero to figure out how to reach the right audience.
We might have seen a dip in traffic which could be considered as a negative but I think as a team, we did everything right. They are a fairly new client and we tried going one direction with them, when that didn’t work we analyzed what was wrong and put our heads together to find a solution.
We came up with a few ideas of what to try next and in the coming weeks we will be researching and creating a new strategy for this client. Just because one direction didn’t work doesn’t mean inbound marketing won’t work for them, and that’s the beauty of it. There is always something new you can try.
Inbound marketing isn’t a follow the rules kind of system. You have to research, launch, test, analyze, review, relaunch, and retest. As I always say, it’s a process not a project. If you have an account that isn’t performing well or even just a campaign, sometimes it can help to get your whole team together to brainstorm. Then come up with a great new campaign and see where it goes.
