Useful Apps and Tools for Business Processes

As a content marketing manager I am always looking for new tools and apps to apply to our own business processes and our clients. Below is a list and description of each tool I learned about. I have not had the chance to try them all out yet, if you use one of these tools I encourage you to leave a comment with your opinions!

Join.Me

Join.Me is a meeting app that combines screen sharing where anyone can present, train, or demo.  The app is so easy and accessible. I was invited to a Join.Me conference call a few months ago.  It was love at first sight. It's a great way to meet with up to 10 people if you find yourself working from remote locations.

Yammer

Its Yammer time! Thats what I say when I see a new Yammer come in from one of our team members.  Yammer describes itself as a “Leading Enterprise Social Network.”  OverGo uses Yammer amongst our team members to exchange ideas or articles we find interesting.  Its a great place to house all the informational items we want to share with each other- our brilliant ideas are no longer getting lost in emails.

Screenr

Screenr describes their tool as a web-based screen recorder.  This kind of tool would be useful for teaching.  We have not used it yet but I can imagine the simplicity of recording my screen during an internal process and then sharing that recording with a new employee to teach them about our processes.

SnagIt

“The Ultimate Screen Capture Tool.” Agreed, it truly is in my eyes.  I’ve been using SnagIt for a few years.  Nothing gets my point across easier than taking a screen shot and marking it up with SnagIt’s customizable options.  It lends a helping hand when relaying design edits, relaying data and simple picture cropping.

PicMonkey

PicMonkey comes from the engineers of Picnik. PicMonkey prides itself on being the “friendliest photo editor.”  There is a free version and a paid version. You can upload your own images and then edit them instantly.  One place where this tool would come in handy is for sharing pictures on social media.

Evernote

Evernote is a note taking app. Evernote allows you to voice record, snap pictures and type notes. I used Evernote at Inbound 2013, and man was it easy to navigate. I think it can be very useful for a team and/or business that wants to keep their note taking in one forum.  If everyone shares their Evernote notebooks the entire team can stay in the loop.

Design Seeds

Design Seeds is a website that is home to original content meant to inspire all with a passion for design.  Well, let me put it this way- they have color palettes. Its pretty amazing, the palettes are all custom created by the owner of the site and range from all sorts of themes like vacation, edible, summer. If you are interested in a specific swatch of color on the website, all you have to do is hold you mouse over the swatch to see the HEX code of that swatch. This website is great if you are looking for color inspiration and that inspiration can range from a website redesign to a wedding.

These tools & apps can provide value for your business processes whether you are looking to create new ones or add to the processes you already have in place. They were created to make certain doings easier for us, which makes me a willing accomplice to experiment with all of these tools.

Business Processes

Our team recently attended HubSpot’s Inbound Conference in Boston.  I don’t know if I should call it a conference because that immediately makes the experience sound boring and snooze worthy. Let me put it this way- HubSpot knows how to throw a party. Its better than your college parties because this one doesn’t leave you with a throbbing headache the next day- it leaves you with useful knowledge you can apply to your business  (unless you partied too hard on Boylston street then you have a headache-knowledge combo).
